  1. Short:    V2.9c AmigaDos Version replacement. (bugfix)

  6. VersionWB is a replacement for the usual AmigaDos Version command,
  7. which now uses XfdMaster.library if available.
  8.  
  9. If you want the version information to be presented in
  10. a requester, this program is for you. Instead of
  11. like c:version just tell the version and revision number
  12. by default, VersionWB always tells you all it could find.
  13.  
  14. VersionWB have these features:
  15.  
  16. * It will bring up a requester with the version information.
  17.  
  18. * It support several files in the command line parameter template.
  19.  
  20. * You can shift-doubleclick an icon with VersionWB and
  21.   then get all that version stuff.
  22.  
  23. * You may also pick the file you want to know the version number of
  24.   by using a file requester.
  25.  
  26. * It will find version strings in WB1.3 libraries and devices,
  27.   c:version does not, e.g. narrator.device.
  28.  
  29. * If you use it with ToolManager you can have an appicon in
  30.   your Workbench. Drop the icon on the appicon, and the
  31.   version information will be presented (if the file contains a
  32.   version string :-)

  34. * It also has an optional text output.
  35.  
  36. * It recognizes any packed file (uses xfdmaster.library).
  37.  
  38. * All other features of AmigaDos Version, as far as I know 8-).

  40. * Can be opened on a publicscreen

  52. BUGFIX: Original version does only show the filename and versionnumber
  53. by default. VersionWB does so too now to, when the output is redirected,
  54. to keep compatible with scripts which is using the output from Version.
  55. If the output is not redirected a requester will pop up ...
  56. Then there shouldn't be any problems with scripts. Because the output
  57. from C:version and VersionWB is the same.

  59. NEW: Argument LIKECVER added. If specified, VersionWB will only output the
  60. filename and versionnumber in text-mode, just like C:version.

  62. Just to make things clear: ...
  63.  
  64. If FULL is specified there will be a full text output with date and misc.
  65. If TEXT is specified there will be a full text output with fields like
  66. Version:, Date: and Misc:.
  67. If REQ is specified a requester will pop up with the version info.
  68. Default is REQ when started from CLI or WB.
  69. You may set your default for CLI-usage in the environmental variable
  70. VERSIONWB_PARAM
  71. e.g. SETENV VERSIONWB_PARAM "LIKECVER" , will make VersionWB behave like
  72. A-OS-Version. Then you must specify REQ for buttons in file managers.
  73. Don't forget to do a 'copy ENV:VERSIONWB_PARAM ENVARC:' to save the settings.

  75. BUGFIX: If you have cybergraphics.library VersionWB could ask for ENV:
  76. when the Amiga was booting up. This apply if you have replaced C:version
  77. with VersionWB.
  78. BUGFIX: Enforcer-hit. Hm. Did a 'used a C-string("") instead of a E-string('')'
  79. mistake.

  81. BUGFIX: Multiselection was broken.
  82. BUGFIX: Devices from filerequester did not work.
  83. NEW: If you submit an empty filerequester (empty file-field and empty dir-field)
  84. System info will show up.

  86. BUGFIX: Fixed another Enforcer-hit introduced with version 2.8
  87. BUGFIX: Too much miscellaneous info could be showed. Mostly with text-files.

  91. V.2.9a (20.12.97) PUBLIC UPDATE

  93. NEW: VersionWB REQ now shows system info in requester.
  94. NOTE to users of RTPatch or MCP-ReqtoolsASLPatch:
  95. You maybe have found out that you can't check the versionnumber of
  96. a device (DH0:) or check the system-info. With ASL-filerequester this is done
  97. by leaving the file-field blank and have the device-name typed in the
  98. dir-field. It's not possible to leave the file-field blank with Reqtools,
  99. It returns the same thing as the press on the cancel-button does.
  100. Hm. :-( Bug is reported to the authors so look out for a new version
  101. of MCP or RTPatch.

  109. V.2.9c (31.12.97) PUBLIC UPDATE

  111. BUGFIX: The output changed when it was redirected or when LIKECVER was specified.
  112. Wrong revision number showed up and misc-info was missing.
  113. BUGFIX: The revisionnumber was parsed wrongly, so if the REVISION argument
  114. was used the result would be wrong.
